Women in the Circle of Change

Tseba Sports Day - Donating Sanitary Towels

Sponsored by Tseba Tanks and other leading brands, the 3rd annual LITfontein Spring jump took place on the 7th of September. The Spring Jump is an annual sports tournament used to raise funds and collect sanitary towels for young women in need.

Not just fun and games:

What began as a friendly competition in 2017, soon expanded into a socio-economic development initiative. The last two years of this event felt like a warm up for greater event success this year. Both spectators and participating teams were asked to bring sanitary towels and/or donations with them to the tournament. Which they did in abundance.

The LITfontein Sports club is a netball club that organises tournaments. These not only showcase the best in netball, but basketball and soccer teams too. The organisers decided to use the Spring Jump to encourage people to give back to impoverished communities. What better platform to do so than through what they love- sports?

Aim for the Net

These young women from different backgrounds have a common passion that goes beyond the court- philanthropy. Busi Sechele, a proud contributor to the initiative said: “We all participate in sports socially and have identified the need to further use our influence within our communities through sports”.

Research shows that a total of 3,7 million girls aged between 13 and 19, miss several days of school every month due to lack of sanitary towels. Girls need all the support they can get to stay in school. This is the support the initiative and us as Tseba Tanks are willing to provide.

A Fleet of Fast Feet

“Our company and over 6 different sponsors such as Betway, ML Sports, Kasi Boutique, Avon, AMCS took part in this Wendywood High School event. We gathered our resources to provide money, sports drinks, trophies, goodie bags and mountains of pads for the day. Some of these brands provided kits for the participating teams.

This year’s recipient for all donations is the Matla Combined School in Muldersdrift. We hope these donations can bridge a gap and inspire others to give even after the final whistle is blown.”

The Leading Edge

“Where ever work is done, victory is attained”, is the inspiring motto that the Litfontein Sports Club lives by. This team of young women and mothers would like to continue catering and serving in the best way they know how. For them, the greatest win beyond trophies and the champion team title is their contribution to social change. We, as Tseba Tanks are extremely proud of the accomplishments of the LITfontein members.
